My Personal Currently Listening Syllabus

I like to take time each week and lie down, get cozy, close my eyes, and immerse myself in a piece of music without any other stimuli. It makes me a better musician but also a happier and healthier human, as this sort of intense listening is essentially a practice of mindfulness. I won’t go into the benefits of mindfulness, but if you don’t already know, the benefits abound.

Anyway, as I am not good at making plans, I love to look for syllabi for listening sessions, but sometimes finding a college syllabus is difficult or the syllabi I find are not sufficiently tailored to my needs.

So, on a whim, I tried using AI to create one for me. I, unfortunately do not recall the prompt I used to generate this syllabus, but I am going to share the results.

I present you with a 20 week listening syllabus to learn about the musical form called the “symphony.” A symphony is an elaborate composition for full orchestra, often in three or four movements., with one in “sonata allegro form.” I won’t go into what the sonata allegro form is here in this post, but might in future. Anyway, here it is!
